Live Nation Entertainment partnered with Downtown FabWork to create custom centerpiece installations for The Backyard, an upgraded open-air VIP lounge experience at select amphitheaters across the United States. Across seven Backyard venues, we transformed authentic vintage trucks into nostalgic, multifunctional focal points—bringing the relaxed spirit of a retro American backyard cookout to the concert experience.

Each truck needed a distinct personality while remaining cohesive within The Backyard’s broader aesthetic: casual, welcoming, and built for connection. The designs also had to support a range of venue-specific functions, from bars and serving stations to DJ booths, without compromising the vintage character of the vehicles.

After receiving a selection of client-sourced vintage trucks, our team refurbished each vehicle from the ground up. We refinished the exteriors in vibrant, automotive-grade retro hues, then thoughtfully modified one side of each truck bed to retain its recognizable silhouette while accommodating custom-fabricated cabinetry inserts. Tailored to each venue’s layout and operational needs, the truck beds were transformed into functional bars, DJ booths, and serving stations. The finished installations became one-of-a-kind focal points for The Backyard—a laid-back VIP retreat with shaded seating, picnic tables, lawn games, and an easygoing pre- and post-show atmosphere just steps from the stage.
