Brittney joined the Downtown FabWorks team in 2023, but her foray into metalworking started decades ago while helping her grandfather fix broken farm equipment as a child. She was especially drawn to the idea of using scrap material to build and restructure. After becoming a professional metalworker in 2021, she began her career at Ingalls Shipyard in Mississippi. Brittney considers the safety systems on the Tulane Diboll Parking Garage and the grand spiral staircase at Bucktown Bird's Nest Learning Pavilion to be some of her best work at Downtown FabWorks.
Jeremiah calls on his background in architecture, hands-on fabrication, and artistic curiosity to support the Downtown FabWorks' most complex builds. With a maker’s mindset and a love of problem-solving, Jeremiah thrives on turning concepts into real, working structures. When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him in the garage restoring vintage cars or in the shop building anything from custom furniture to handmade flutes—whatever sparks his imagination next.
Shagg’s background reflects the resourcefulness, creativity, and professionalism he brings to every role. Before stepping into this position, he led our Metalworks Department, helping guide the team through our 2024 facility transition. His path to that role is pure Shagg: after earning a commercial driver’s license during the pandemic and driving a truck for a year, he toured with a circus, worked at Burning Man, and then went back to school to learn welding. He picked it up quickly—so quickly that we invited him to lead the department. Outside of work, Shagg is a talented chef, metalsmith, and musician, and is endlessly devoted to his partner and her pets.
