Storia Delta

our work

project
description

Storia Delta is a storytelling installation about ecological displacement—and the long, changing relationship between people and the Mississippi River delta landscape. Designed by Colloqate Design with Bvlbancha Public Access, it takes the shape of a 10-foot-tall, 30-foot-long sculptural tunnel that doubles as a footbridge inside Lafitte Greenway. Inside, small colored glass tiles hold community-sourced images that honor Indigenous tribes of the region, creating a living monument meant to shift over time.

project parameters

the
challenge

The team needed a strong, safe bridge that could live outdoors, welcome daily pedestrian and bike traffic, and span a sensitive bioswale without harming the land. The structure had to support a detailed artistic vision while still meeting the realities of a public park—weather, durability, and long-term maintenance.

solution

description

Downtown FabWorks fabricated and installed the steel structure that forms the backbone of the sculptural tunnel and footbridge. Our technical design team worked alongside In Detail Studio, translating the design into buildable details and dependable connections. We coordinated with the broader project team to keep the bridge aligned with the bioswale’s protective purpose, so people could cross efficiently while the landscape stayed undisturbed.
