Staff Spotlight: Logan Onebane, Creative Problem Solver

Anna Harris
April 17, 2026

In our Staff Spotlight series, we’re pulling back the curtain on the talented artists, artisans, and craftspeople who make up our crew. Our team is a gumbo pot of creativity: painters, sculptors, woodworkers, fiber artists, costume designers, metalsmiths, actors, musicians, writers, jewelry designers, and the list goes on. If you can dream it up, chances are we’re already doing it in our free time, too. That’s what makes us so good at our day jobs as custom experiential fabricators.

Each month, we’ll shine a light on one of our team members—their inspirations, their after-hours projects, and the creative spark they bring to both their life and our shop floor. Because behind every masterpiece is a person with a story worth sharing.

This month, we’re spotlighting Logan Onebane, our Sales Manager, who credits her creative approach to scenic fabrication sales to her mom's love and guidance.

Logan Onebane is a problem solver at heart. Give her a challenge, and she lights up. That spark has been there since she was a little girl sitting at her mom’s kitchen table, hands covered in paint, surrounded by glitter and construction paper.

Logan calls herself a creative, not an artist, and she credits that creative fire to her mom.

The Influence of Imagination

Growing up in Church Point, Louisiana, Logan and her two older sisters were always in the middle of a project. They painted portraits of the family’s horses, crafted party decorations, and brainstormed bold school projects that turned heads in the classroom. And whatever the idea, their mom was right in the thick of things:

“A lot of people outgrow imagination once they grow out of their childhood,” Logan says. “But my mom never lost hers. She was a big dreamer, and it allowed her to think outside of the box. To her, there was no box.”

One year, Logan’s mom helped her sister design a poster for an elementary school contest. The design was so strong it was chosen as the school’s logo. That kind of belief—that you give 110%, and then add your own edge to it—stuck with Logan. It still shows up in everything she does.

Following in Royal Footsteps

Creativity runs deep in Logan’s family. So does pageantry. Her grandmother competed in pageants in her youth, and that’s actually how she met Logan’s grandfather—a visiting military member who served as her stage escort. They fell in love, and the rest is history. Logan’s mom later became the International Rice Festival Queen in Crowley, Louisiana, and the Duck Festival Queen in Gueydan.

So when middle school Logan saw her mom’s photos in the newspaper, she had a simple thought: Mom’s a queen. That makes me a princess. She began competing and didn’t stop for five years. Logan earned titles including Teen Miss Church Point, Teen Miss Bunny in Iowa, Louisiana (her favorite competition, coached by her grandmother and filled with creative bunny accessories), Teen Miss Central Louisiana, and Teen Miss 4th of July in Erath. Pageants sharpened her confidence and deepened her love for presentation and crafting a unique moment.

Mardi Gras Roots

As the youngest of three sisters, Logan grew up steeped in tradition. Church Point is home to Courir de Mardi Gras, a traditional Cajun celebration where masked runners chase chickens at homes across town before gathering for a parade. At the end of the day, the community celebrates together over a big pot of gumbo. For Logan, the event isn’t just about celebrating her heritage, it’s deeply personal.

Her stepfather’s family revived the Church Point Courir in 1961, and today it’s one of the longest-running courirs in existence. Ownership of the event has passed down through generations, and her stepfather now serves as Capitaine, or Captain. Logan has also served as co-capitaine for the Children’s Mardi Gras—the day before the adult Courir—helping kids learn and enjoy the traditions in an age-appropriate way. During college, she even made fringed Cajun Mardi Gras costumes for all her friends so they could celebrate in Church Point in style.

Creating Energy & Belonging

Logan studied Broadcast Journalism in college, where storytelling and production came together for her in a new way, and she started to see how the smallest events could make for lifechanging news. Lucky for us, her school feature on her dad Andrew Onebane's crawfish ponds lives on in perpetuity (video below) to show us what a great newscaster she made!

During her college years, she also stepped into the role of Spirit Chair for her sorority at a time when attendance at school events was low. Instead of simply asking people to show up, she made it fun and personal. She hosted craft nights and “get ready with me” pre-events filled with makeup, sparkles, and school colors. Over time, attendance grew, energy shifted, and her sorority began winning awards for participation and enthusiasm. Even then, Logan realized that creating a sense of belonging is the key to creating a memorable shared experience.

Figuring It All Out

Before joining Downtown FabWorks, Logan worked for an event planner who affectionately nicknamed her the “Swiss Army Knife.” Not sure how to do it? Have Logan figure it out. That often meant designing tablescapes, balloon arrangements, and floral arrangements from scratch. She still loves the process of creating floral arrangements—the texture of the petals, the balance of the stems, the moment it all comes together.

Talk about iconic! This colorful, rainbow-themed first birthday party was one of those projects where the client set the basic theme and Logan figured out the rest - including building the balloon column backdrop.

When asked what she has learned along her artistic journey, she doesn’t talk about awards or praise. She talks about perfection.

“Nothing is ‘perfect.’ I am a perfectionist and have a really good eye for detail, but the idea of perfecting something is going to hold me back more than it will satisfy me.” Such a great way to think about life!

Bringing Big Ideas (And Mushrooms) To Life

Her favorite creation to date is a set of giant papier-mâché mushrooms for a fairy-themed first birthday party. The mushrooms stood about four feet high and were built from chicken wire and layers of papier-mâché—something she had never done before. She was simply told to figure it out, and she did. That freedom to take an idea and shape it into something real is what fuels her.

Logan created these larger-than-life mushrooms by hand from papier-mâché to meet a client's need for a fairytale backdrop.

By day, Logan serves as Sales Manager at Downtown FabWorks, specializing in scenic experiential projects. She works with experiential marketing teams, meeting planners, and event producers who often come to her with big dreams and big questions—a rendering, a concept sketch, a vision for how they want guests to feel, but not always a clear plan to get there. That’s where Logan thrives.

“I look forward to those problems that pick my brain and let me get creative with it,” she says. Her role is to collaborate with our fabrication experts, understand the space, the goals, and the budget, and suggest the right materials and methods to bring the vision to life.

This is where her lifelong love of creating things comes into play.

“For both things, the end goal is the big picture,” she explains. “What will satisfy the client when they walk into the room and see what you produced? What vibe and emotions do they want to feel? What budget are they working with and what quality are they wanting to get out of that amount?” It’s not just about selling a product. It’s about crafting an experience that feels right.

Creative Projects Beyond the Office

There’s one project still waiting patiently in Logan’s heart: a documentary about Church Point Mardi Gras. It was meant to be her senior-year broadcast journalism project, but when COVID hit, it had to be shelved. It hasn’t been forgotten. One day, she would love to finish it—telling the story of the community and traditions that shaped her.

In the meantime, she continues creating. Logan runs an Etsy shop called Grow Your Mind Designs, where her custom purple-and-gold tiger design takes center stage. Her tiger hats are the bestseller, with preppy college dorm room flags close behind. Every now and then, she still joins her event planner friends to run on-site customization activations, helping guests of all ages walk away with something made just for them.

Logan loves getting into the trenches at her friends' activations! Here, she's ready to help event attendees make their own custom party apparel.

A Thoughtful Approach to Every Challenge

Logan’s experiences in pageantry, broadcast journalism, event planning, and family tradition have all helped shape her thoughtful and solutions-driven approach to sales. The same creativity she developed at her mom’s kitchen table, the leadership she practiced through community celebration, and the eye for detail she refined through events and design now guide her work every day. She loves a challenge, and most of all, she is always thinking about the end user—how they will feel when they walk into a space and experience what’s been created. That drive to help clients uncover the best path forward and create something beautiful and meaningful is exactly what makes her an incredible asset to the Downtown FabWorks team.
